Place Studies examines how we imagine, sustain, understand, and engage with place – locally and globally – by exploring how communities navigate the nexus of social, cultural, economic, and environmental dynamics.  In Bucknell’s Place Studies program, faculty, staff, and students work in collaboration and with local partners to understand, represent, and engage communities around sustainability issues.  The program employs research, teaching, and outreach to develop projects that enhance our understandings of sustainable places, place meaning, and Pennsylvania’s coal region.
